The Ribbon Room
Status: Open Investigation
Location: West Wing, Second Floor
Access: Restricted
Incident Report
No one seems to remember when the Ribbon Room first appeared.
Some insist it has always been there.
Others are certain it wasn’t there yesterday.
The room itself is ordinary enough.
Shelves of dolls dressed in pink satin.
Spools of faded ribbon.
Powder puffs left neatly beside tiny porcelain teacups.
Everything appears untouched.
Everything smells impossibly familiar.
Visitors often pause in the doorway without realizing why.
Many report remembering a toy they had forgotten for decades.
Others swear they hear children laughing somewhere farther inside, though the room is always empty when investigated.
No explanation has ever been found.
Documented Symptoms
Visitors have reported:
• smelling baby powder where none was present
• ribbons appearing in coat pockets
• dreaming of childhood bedrooms they never actually had
• repeatedly checking over their shoulder after leaving
• an overwhelming urge to buy another doll “just in case”

Witness Statement No. 12
“I thought it smelled like candy.
Then powder.
Then something I couldn’t stop smelling on my own wrist.”

Evidence Collected
- One pink ribbon.
- A cracked powder compact.
- Three doll shoes with no matching dolls.
-
A handwritten note reading:
“She isn’t missing. She’s waiting.”

Department Recommendation
Visitors are welcome to enter.
Should you leave with ribbons in your pockets…
…the Department recommends keeping them.
Experience suggests they usually belong to someone.

Internal Memorandum
The Creamery Department continues to deny the existence of the Ribbon Room.
The Department also reminds the public that any reports involving dolls, ribbons, powder, or unexplained sweetness are purely coincidental.
Further reports are encouraged.
